“no ifs, ands, or buts”

“no ifs, ands, or buts”

Prepared for the “Ascension Morning Prayer Call Line” with Prophet Brian R. Davis

Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.

no ifs, ands, or buts

(spoken)
without excuses or doubts - No reservations, restrictions, or excuses,
Example: If they catch you stealing, you're fired on the spot – no ifs, ands, or buts about it.

Usage notes: Most often in a negative phrase
The [in]famous “but”:

Usage notes

  • Beginning a sentence with a coordinating conjunction such as but is considered incorrect by classical grammarians arguing that a coordinating conjunction at the start of a sentence has nothing to connect, but use of the word in this way is very common. It is, however, best to avoid beginning a sentence with but in formal writing. Combining sentences or using however, nevertheless, still, or though is appropriate for the formal style.
On the contrary
—used to introduce a statement that adds something to a previous statement and usually contrasts with it in some way

I hate ( yes a strong word indeed but I do hate it) to hear “Christians” (and church folks for that matter) start talking about something that refers to God or they are speaking about some topic, part of a general conversation among the saints and without thinking, they say something like:

I would love to participate, I will but.... I want to do this but, and since we are partaking in a 30 day fast, I want to fast but.... I could but...

( Now mind you this is in no way speaking to those on medications, under a doctors care, etc). for the word of God expressly says to us:

Wisdom is the principal thing; therefore get wisdom: and with all thy getting get understanding

If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him.

But let him ask in faith, nothing wavering. For he that wavereth is like a wave of the sea driven with the wind and tossed.
Jesus said to:

Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you:

We have to be careful what we say, how we say it, when we say it and to whom we say it. For it is written:

Death and life are in the power of the tongue: and they that love it shall eat the fruit thereof.

Even so the tongue is a little member, and boasteth great things. Behold, how great a matter a little fire kindleth!

People do not realize that before their prayer to God is finished, they have already put a stop on what they have asked for by saying, Lord I have asked you, but if you don't do it...

How foolish is that? If I am going to God for something in prayer, I am definitely not going to even mention the word but....... Why pray and ask then kill it shortly thereafter???

Now the bible says:

But my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus.

That is not negative in any way, shape form or fashion, it is making a declaration, a decree:

I Declare and I Decree, that all of what I need, the Word of God says that He, GOD, shall make sure that I have all, not some, but all of what I need.....

This morning, I know that many of us owe God an apology (repentance) for things we have said and not said. Many have not humbled themselves and said to God, not my will, but thy will be done! I confess that I too, was one of them that would not dare to say that because of many years ago how I struggled, had it so hard, one thing after another and I in my weakened flesh feared what would come next. In my spiritual ignorance, I did not realize that I was not showing any faith or trust in God by my actions.

And after going through so much, and God delivered me out of them all, not some of them, but out of them all, sickness, loss of job, loss of everything, and the Lord God, in Jesus name, did indeed restore me, and set me up in a high place, delivered me out of all my distress. How dare me now say to Him, Lord God, in Jesus name but!!!!!

I know first have what God can do for me and even now there are challenges, tests of faith, but my God shall...... Bless the name of God... Some people do not understand why I am, what they call so passionate about what I say and say it with such a strong conviction, it is because God has come through for me, time and time and time again. Not because of me, but in spite of me, He has shown Himself faithful, that is why I owe Him an apology.

I can trust Him, I now want Him to be able to trust me with the talents that He has given me and that I shall not bury them but use them to increase the more and not be like the man in:

Matthew 25:14-25
King James Version (KJV)
14 For the kingdom of heaven is as a man travelling into a far country, who called his own servants, and delivered unto them his goods.
15 And unto one he gave five talents, to another two, and to another one; to every man according to his several ability; and straightway took his journey.
16 Then he that had received the five talents went and traded with the same, and made them other five talents.
17 And likewise he that had received two, he also gained other two.
18 But he that had received one went and digged in the earth, and hid his lord's money.
19 After a long time the lord of those servants cometh, and reckoneth with them.
20 And so he that had received five talents came and brought other five talents, saying, Lord, thou deliveredst unto me five talents: behold, I have gained beside them five talents more.
21 His lord said unto him, Well done, thou good and faithful servant: thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will make thee ruler over many things: enter thou into the joy of thy lord.
22 He also that had received two talents came and said, Lord, thou deliveredst unto me two talents: behold, I have gained two other talents beside them.
23 His lord said unto him, Well done, good and faithful servant; thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will make thee ruler over many things: enter thou into the joy of thy lord.
24 Then he which had received the one talent came and said, Lord, I knew thee that thou art an hard man, reaping where thou hast not sown, and gathering where thou hast not strawed:
25 And I was afraid, and went and hid thy talent in the earth: lo, there thou hast that is thine.

Then Peter opened his mouth, and said, Of a truth I perceive that God is no respecter of persons:

I know He can, He shall and He will do it for us that trust in Him and that OBEY Him!

Just trust God and believe. Be like the man that said to Jesus:

Mark 9:23-24 King James Version (KJV)
23 Jesus said unto him, If thou canst believe, all things are possible to him that believeth.
24 And straightway the father of the child cried out, and said with tears, Lord, I believe; help thou mine unbelief.

I remember my first pastor preaching a message “Take the handcuffs off of God”. I will never forget that message, it was well over 30 years ago and I still remember it today...

Numbers 6:22-26King James Version (KJV)
22 And the Lord spake unto Moses, saying,
23 Speak unto Aaron and unto his sons, saying, On this wise ye shall bless the children of Israel, saying unto them,
24 The Lord bless thee, and keep thee:
25 The Lord make his face shine upon thee, and be gracious unto thee:
26 The Lord lift up his countenance upon thee, and give thee peace.

I will be updating this on a later time... Bless the name of God!
